Bridging the Gap Between Mental and Emotional Health: My Mission and Why It Matters

I’ve always believed that mental health and emotional intelligence should go hand in hand. Yet, too often, they’re treated as separate worlds—one focused on diagnoses, the other on personal development. That’s exactly why I created my hybrid approach—to bridge that gap and give my clients the tools they need to understand, navigate, and take control of their emotional and mental well-being.

As a Board-Certified Adult, Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, therapist, and coach, I combine the best of therapy and coaching to offer a holistic, results-driven model that helps people not just survive, but truly thrive.

More Than Credentials—Lived Experience That Fuels My Work

I don’t just teach emotional intelligence—I live it. My journey has shaped the way I approach my work.

I know what it’s like to face overwhelming challenges. As an immigrant, a widowed trauma survivor, a teen mom, and the daughter of a parent with severe bipolar disorder, I’ve had to navigate life’s hardest moments. These experiences don’t just make me empathetic—they make me relatable. I understand my clients because I’ve been in their shoes, and that’s what allows me to truly connect, support, and guide them forward.

The Power of a Hybrid Model

At Empower Mental Health, I’ve built a practice that goes beyond traditional therapy. My approach blends:

The emotional support of therapy – A space to process past experiences and understand emotional patterns.

The actionable strategies of coaching – Practical tools and frameworks to help clients take control of their lives.

I don’t believe in a top-down, prescriptive approach. Instead, I partner with my clients, helping them develop the self-awareness and emotional intelligence needed to create lasting transformation.

Teaching Emotional Intelligence—One Client, One System at a Time

Over the years, I’ve developed structured frameworks for teaching emotional intelligence (EQ) and emotional literacy, helping my clients:

Understand their emotions and why they react the way they do.

Navigate challenges with clarity rather than being overwhelmed by them.

Build emotional resilience for long-term success.

Expanding Emotional Intelligence Beyond Individual Coaching

While I love working one-on-one with clients—especially empowering women through my coaching and courses—my mission goes beyond individual growth. I’m working to expand emotional intelligence education into new spaces, including:

Schools – Providing tools for students and teachers to reduce violence and build emotionally intelligent future leaders.

Corporate settings – Helping executives and business owners become the kind of leaders people naturally want to follow.

Mentoring the Next Generation of Mental Health Leaders

I believe in paying it forward. That’s why I dedicate time to mentoring and precepting aspiring nurse practitioners and business leaders who want to integrate emotional intelligence into their own work. The more professionals who adopt a holistic, emotionally intelligent approach, the bigger the impact we can create.

Medication as a Tool—Not a Crutch

For some clients, medication management plays a vital role in their mental health journey. I take a collaborative approach, making sure my clients understand their options, feel empowered in their decisions, and use medication as a tool to support their emotional growth—not as a quick fix.

My Vision: A Universal Language for Emotional Wellness

At the heart of everything I do is a mission: to create a universal language for emotional and mental health—one that makes personal growth accessible, practical, and transformative. I don’t believe in just slapping labels on people and sending them on their way. My work is about giving people the tools to truly understand themselves, heal, and thrive.

Through coaching, courses, and integrative psychiatry partnerships, I’m working to change the way we think about emotional intelligence and mental health—so that no one has to struggle in silence, and everyone has the chance to live a confident, emotionally empowered life.

Thank you so much for your precious time and attention.
